They have cancelled all "public" witnessing in my area (PA, USA) They are informing their members to call their elders to get phone and letter writing territories. Also to do all bible studies over the phone, and call all return visits by telephone.

Are the JWs are doing field service while corona?

i'm out of the jws for 12 years now and stopped thinking about the whole thing a long time ago.. but recently, i wondered how jws deal with corona?
i've read on the forums that they suspended meetings and tried to hold them online.. but are they still doing field service?.

I was talking to a friend who is from China. She owns a local restaurant and was telling me that the reported deaths is not accurate. The crematoriums can not keep up with the dead in Wuhan. I asked her what does she think is the death toll? Her answer was "Whatever you see the Government reporting, multiply it by 10!"

Why the change?
by Fadeaway1962 inpossible cancelling the memorial after years of experiences of bro/sis under nazi , communist oppression and many other countries still conducting the memorial under threat of death that the governing body is listening to the superior authorities regarding this virus pandemic.. could it be that after taking control of the k/halls that the branch/governing body would be responsible for any disobedience to the civil authorities and liable for any deaths.. they would have left upto the local body of elders and encouraged obedience to god rather than men and a lack of faith in jehovah to protect his people..

Here in my area i hear they are planning for the memorial to be held at the different service centers, that way they are under 20 at each place. All I know is if I was one of their neighbors during this time I would be very suspicious with 20 well dressed people going to their house.

I just went to my local grocery store and bought toilet tissue (not my usual brand though) eggs, milk, and bread. The meat department was fairly bare, but was able to get pork chops (which I did want) but no ground beef. I checked the paper towels since they are next to the toilet tissue and they were low. I don't use bottled water so I didn't check on that. Interesting note....they had employees wiping down all shopping buggies with a bleach solution after you were finished with it. Funny thing, at 1 pm local time it was empty of people. I saw maybe 8 others shopping. But I am now good for at least a couple of weeks. I wish people would just use good sense and judgement and stop freaking out.
